I don’t know why I have never noticed this tree before but I guess I have now become more focussed because of the current situation than in previous years. It may be a variety of Norway Maple such as Crimson King. The yellow flowers emerge from the red-scaled leaf buds first, followed by the red leaves, The yellow and red arranged on lichen-covered boughs and twigs, and against the backdrop of the sky, look magnificent. Much neck-craning and zoom-use was employed in taking these shots of them on the tall tree. I have been watching it from day to day as it unfurls in all its glory during my coronavirus lockdown outings. Whatever it is called, it is a beauty.
