Meadows on the Vile at Rhossili 1

Meadows 1 of many – Picture from the wonderland that has been seeded by the National Trust in the old medieval strip field system called The Vile on the cliff top at Rhossili, Gower, South Wales. The field strips are separated by earthen embankments which are also vegetated but usually with different species. Each field has a different combination of wild flowering plants and grasses. My visit took place on 17 June 2021 before most of the flowers were fully open. I can hardly wait to go back in a few weeks (if possible) to see the colour transformation that will be taking place with all the accompanying insects and birds. Meadows are a new habitat for me to photograph and study.
