In July this year I spent a a little time in Shrewsbury where the River Severn loops around the town, walking along the riverbanks covered in a profusion of wild summer flowers and trees, and cruising on the water. A marked contrast to the nearby clamour of ancient narrow streets, and also the most delightful escape from the heat.
