Fields around Charlton Down in Spring

Daily Walk in Difficult Times 46

Scroll down to content

Out fairly early one sunny, warm, hazy morning, smelling the fresh air, listening to bird song, feeling the breeze on my face. Looking down across crop fields dissected by tram-lines; village orchard and nature area concealed by trees on the right. Gentle grass-covered slopes with grazing for horses. Hedgerows and small copses of trees in full leaf. Take a deep breath. Take it all in. Refresh. Repeat.

  1. Three of the pictures show an oblique line of parallel hedgerows – these conceal the main road to town. The road is well hidden and doesn’t spoil the view. You can see the triangular bend warning sign in one image.
