Accidental art, found art, or a simulacrum? One of a series, this image shows a combination of shapes and colours that sparked my imagination and pleased me in other ways. The photograph shows a small section of paintwork on the hull of a boat being renovated in a yard by the side of the River Tawe in Swansea.
Wonderful colours here. Reminds me of the “distressed” paintwork that used to be fashionable back in the early 1990s!

Thanks, Emma. I remember. I am an avid follower of all the antique programmes on TV and it seems there is still a latent trend for distressed furnishings, peeling paint and rust. For some though, this is a fact of every day life on account of an inability to get on top of house maintenance problems.

Thanks, RH. I don’t think that would ever be a possibility but thanks for the thought. The images in this series do, however, remind me of some of the work by Barbara Rae who has exhibited at the RA. I have a print of her work “Winter Sanctuary“.
