Collage of old ropes and twines from beachcombed flotsam and jetsam

Over the years I have picked up lots of rubbish on the strandlines of beaches. Brightly coloured ropes and twine from fishing activities frequently occur, sometimes whole nets, other times just short strands and knots. The variety is amazing. Here is an example of my recent upcycling of this type of plastic flotsam and jetsam.

  1. It’s beautiful and I love the mix of fiber and natural materials. I think if I had a collection of fibers like these, my fingers would itch to get out the knitting needles, such an array of colors and textures.
