Thank you, Dave. I just love sand patterns. Their variety is endless and in every case is governed by the physics of waves, sediments, and winds. Every pattern can be explained in cause and effect terms – but unfortunately not by me – the maths is too much of a problem.

Hi Jessica, Not to get too philosophical about it, but the maths is too complicated for anyone, really. Each location (down to millimetres) is just as individual as a fingerprint, and maybe more so. The maths of waves involves infinity – which makes sense when you think about it – it’s the action of the whole universe at each point.
