Log pile by a river

Walk in the Park at SBTL2

Some pictures from a walk through Sculpture by the Lakes in Dorset. It is quite a few months since I last visited, and there have been many changes. Most noticeable is the felling of trees. I guess they have become unsafe in the high winds over winter or because of internal rot. This activity is still in progress and it is an ongoing part of maintenance, management and evolution in the park. Whilst it is sad to lose the trees, especially the more mature ones, the logs are mostly stacked to provide habitats for a host of other organisms to occupy – increasing overall biodiversity. These images show one of the log piles, with photos of the trees as they were in situ in previous seasons (January and October 2020) around the pool behind The Retreat.
