A one way system on the beach and wintry views. I laughed at the notice to “please use beach exit 100 yards” further on (introduced as a social distancing anti-Covid measure). It was so unexpected.

I always stop and take a deep breath when I first step on the beach at Rhossili, taking in the wonderful vista looking towards the north and the south of the 5 km expanse of shoreline. Southwards, the terrain is higher with Rhossili Down (and the shape of the natural terrace below) extending towards the seaspray-shrouded headland with the village perched on top. Northwards the beach profile is lower and bordered by dunes leading to the tidal island of Burry Holms.

This is the fifth in a series following my steps on a short stroll from Hillend along the shore at Rhossili, returning via Diles Lake and the marsh side of the dunes, February 8th 2022.
