Woodland Autumn TWD 5 – Continuing a walk in Dorset woodland on a sunny autumn day. The tall beech and chestnut trees at the beginning of the walk give way to other trees like birch, pine, holly, and oak as you walk further east, and the habitat changes from woodland to heathland. At the boundary of the two habitats is a small shallow pond reflecting the rushes and the coloured overhead leaves; and fly agaric toadstools provide a bright splash of red on the banks.

  1. Lovely photograph of an old Beech Wood. Reminds me of countryside walks through a local beech wood as a teenager surrounded by bluebells. Good memories.
    Many thanks,
    Trevor.
