These are weird and fascinating creatures, in my mind, I associate them with octopi, I am sure they are nor related, it’s just that they have dangly leg/tentacles and live in the sea.

Jellyfish are very interesting. Funnily enough, about the octopus thoughts, the scientific name of the barrel jellyfish is Rhizostoma octopus.

The large photo ?#6 – is that called a compass? I’ve met them on the Chesil and at Ringstead.

Yes, two of the images show compass jellyfish, one of them got rolled up in the surf as it came ashore.
