You are right. Many basic types of pattern can be found repeating themselves in different natural situations. I once took dozens of (very poor quality) photos through the thick glass of a plane window flying at a height of 30,000 feet over mountains ranges and river systems in the States – and they do look like these beach drainage patterns. Maybe I’ll post the images sometime.
Patterns repeat in so many organisms and entities. It is amazing.

I first saw these on my phone. In ‘big’ on the computer they are amazing. Definitely some primitive cave art in there (specifically the fish…)
