Lochan Reeds – I like the way that reeds, growing in and around the small bodies of water known as lochans in the far north of Scotland, form interesting abstract patterns – which I have embellished in the photographic images here by digitally altering the colours.
Not so keen on this photo. Somehow it’s lost the detail of the reed beds. I’m still envious of your photoshop abilities though

Yes, I had to decide whether to show the “sharpened up” images or not. I rather like the purple blurring in the denser areas of reeds so that you are more aware of the “banding” in the image. I’m quite keen on stripes in imagery. There is nothing very clever in my manipulation of photographs. I use Corel Paintshop Pro X9 instant adjustments and effects, sometimes combinations of them. It is great fun mixing and matching effect to see what you get. This is a sharpened up version of one of the reed images:

I think these are exquisite. They have become their own selves (excuse the grammar!) and left behind their definition as plants and yet the characteristics still come through, making such a rich mysterious image. Just wow.
