No, I didn’t! I tend not to dig things up unless I see a bit sticking up that makes me curious – you never know what might be lurking – like unexploded ordnance. Some of the Gower beaches were used as practice firing ranges in WW2. In fact, the Royal Navy Bomb Disposal Squad were making one of their regular sweeps of the beach, clearing away pieces that are still turning up after all these years, when I visited a few weeks ago.
Did you investigate what lay under the mound???
