Tree bark pattern and texture in the Oriental Spruce, Picea orientalis, a member of the Pinaceae originating in the Caucasus and north-eastern Turkey. Photographed at the Kew Royal Botanic Gardens in London, UK. This species is a native of mountain forests but is frequently grown as an ornamental tree in many parts of the British Isles, and is sometimes planted here as a commercially exploitable timber.
