Sand patterns at Rhossili April 2010 (1)

Scroll down to content

This is the first in a series of photographs of patterns and ripples in the sand at Rhossili Bay during a recent four day visit. The designs will range from the subtle and gently nuanced – like the ones shown in this posting –  to the colourful, strange and spectacular. From fine, dry and wind-drifted to the coarse, wet, compacted and wave-deposited. Textures varying from one part of the beach to another. High tide to low tide; open stretches to small areas around rocks and boulders; and sediments deposited by streams flowing down from Rhossili Down.
