Fossil Wood at Lyme Regis (1) - Fossil wood in a limestone boulder on Monmouth Beach, Lyme Regis, Dorset, UK - part of the Jurassic Coast.

These photographs illustrate details of a piece of fossil wood. This was found in a smooth limestone boulder on Monmouth Beach at Lyme Regis in Dorset. The fossil is shown with its natural colour of buffs, greys and black. These images are also shown with digital colouration to maximise the effect of the intricate – almost geometrical – network of pattern in the wood. For the coloured images click here.
