A Post from the Past [2009]
Red mud washed by streams from the base of Rhossili Down, can form the most incredible designs on the sandy shore. The red sediments derived from the Old Red Devonian Sandstone of the Down in periods of glaciation, together with darker, more recent, humic soils create intricate patterns. The colours seem to change according to the quality of the light and the amount of surface water. Just two examples of many dozens of images are shown above and below.
