Strata 2 DRB Detail of the rock layers of the Blue Lias Formation exposed in a cliff at Dunraven Bay on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. There are alternating bands of darker-coloured shale and lighter-coloured limestone from the Jurassic Period. The differing rock types result from sedimentation at times when the sea-level was either higher or lower according to climate regimes between 195 and 200 million years ago at the end of the Triassic period and beginning of the Jurassic period.

A geologist’s paradise.
Nice to hear from you again.

Thanks, Dave. This beach was certainly a WOW moment. It gave me goose bumps when I first saw it.

A stratigraphic column is like a history book, isn’t it? 😊

It is so interesting to look back through time and understand what happened by trying to read the rocks.
