Huge expanses of pale purple thistles going to seed among the drying grasses and other plants like reeds and dock at Newport Wetlands RSPB Nature Reserve last week (10 July 2022) are providing a feast for the birds. I think this is Creeping Thistle (Cirsium arvense).
