Wetlands at Llanelli 2 Views looking down over Deep Water lake, fringed by luxuriant summer waterside plants, through the window of the Heron’s Wing hide at the Millennium Wetlands (part of the Llanelli Wetland Centre in South Wales). Two pale ponies were standing on the far shore catching a slight cooling breeze on one of the hottest days of the year – maybe the hottest of the decade.

What a lovely spot. With the ponies it could be the Welsh Camargue!

Thank you, Coleshed. It certainly looked and felt very unusual for Britain that day. The last time I felt that hot and damp was in tropical Australia.

Slowly – still a lot of things to sort out and it’s odd getting used to rural life.
