It is not often that you see rocks sprouting beautiful satiny golden hair. That’s what it looked like on the shore of Gun Landing Cove in Cape Breton when I visited a few years back. Under water it could be taken for mermaid’s tresses. What a flight of fancy. Turns out that it is probably a seaweed that we don’t seem to have here in the UK called Soft Sour Weed (Desmarestia viridis).
It looks like my childhood imaginings of Rapunzel’s hair.
