The sandy beach at low tide on Rhossili Bay

Low Tide Patterns at Rhossili Bay

Scroll down to content

As the tide goes out at Rhossili Bay, a vast expanse of wet sand acts like a mirror to reflect the sky and clouds above, and reveals natural patterns of sand created by the waves, with scattered films of sea foam. It can be difficult to see the difference between the reflected clouds, the foam, and the ripples on the surface of the beach. The great vista creates a wonderful illusion that makes it feel as if you are suspended in the firmament and floating rather than walking across the beach.
