Sea Foam and High Winds at Rhossili

Natural patterns of sea foam driven by high winds at Rhossili

It was so windy on one particular day at Rhossili that a layer of surface water was retained on the beach even when the tide had receded. Sea foam was whipped up and driven at high speed across the surface film, making natural scalloped patterns as it travelled landwards. The wind was incredibly noisy and so strong that it was difficult to stand upright and keep the camera level – but I wanted to catch the exhilarating moment.

  1. Well done for taking these! Amazing! I’m surprised you weren’t swept off your feet! They are almost mesmerising. That wind makes me feel chilled to the bone, though!

  2. I just love to wrap up in all my waterproof gear and get out in those kinds of exciting conditions at the beach. It was a good job I had my waterproof Fuji XP60 camera.

  3. They were difficult conditions but I had on so many layers of warm and waterproof clothes I could hardly move. Worth it though, and totally exhilarating to be out in weather like that.
