Black egg shaped sculpture on the South Bank, London, UK, close to a lop-sided snail shaped building occupied by City Hall.

I encountered this black metal sculpture on the South Bank of the Thames close by the new City Hall. The building itself was a remarkable construction looking not unlike some giant lop-sided snail that had laid this huge person-sized egg.   The only black eggs that I have come across in nature belong to cuttlefish. I hope nothing is going to hatch out of this huge black metal egg and slither into the Thames.

  1. I am sure that with all the healthy and safety legislation here in the UK it must be securely fixed in place – but, yes, it does look as if it might topple over any minute.

  2. You may be right! I have never seen an Asparagus Beetle. I was just thinking about the similarity in colour and shininess rather than the shape when I made the comparison..
