Pinkish purple flowers of Wild Thyme, Thymus polytrichus, on sand dunes at Whiteford Burrows, Gower, South Wales. Even the smallest of flowers was growing in great enough profusion in June to make a big contribution to the wonderful colourful floral carpets and natural arrangements at this nature reserve.
It was a bit difficult to get a satisfactory picture that would adequately demonstrate the overall appearance of this small and low growing plant amongst the other short vegetation covering the dunes – one that would do justice to this colourful and fragrant plant – but I hope the photograph below will give an idea of how lovely it looked.
