Seed heads, mostly Hemp Agrimony and Willowherb, looking magnificent on the margins of the water at Sculpture by the Lakes 30 October 2024. Hopefully next year, if our seeding regime is successful, we will have similar stands of seeds for the birds in our small wildlife haven at Charlton Down Nature Area where we are trying to enhance biodiversity as part of the Nature Recovery Dorset Network.
Where’ve you been. I hope you are OK.

Hi Dave, Thank you. I am OK except for the nuisances of old age. I have been directing most all my limited energies to the task of improving biodiversity in my local Charlton Down Nature Area which has turned out to be an almost full-time job. Things are progressing well on that front but there has been little time for anything else. There is a Facebook Group for Charlton Down Nature Area and Orchard, and I am developing a website for the area too, organising a group of 10 volunteers, rewriting the maintenance contract, and creating a management plan going forward 5 years. So Jessica’s Nature Blog has had to take a back seat for a while. https://charltondownnaturearea.uk/

Good to hear that you are well. And to let you know that I too am suffering from the nuisances of old age. That’s the way life is, I have to say.
