Oilseed Rape Flowers – There are fields of these bright flowers every Spring in the English countryside. When I was a child, my Father always told me that they were fields of mustard. I accepted that as a fact until well into adulthood. Now I know better. The plants are oilseed rape from the seeds of which edible oil is obtained and added to many products. Whatever, I think they look very beautiful especially when the sky is blue and the sun is shining. They cheer me up.

  1. We have many oilseed rape fields in our neck of the woods too. A beautiful sight (and scent). 💛👃🏻

  2. Thank you, Markus. I am glad that I do not have hay fever. The pollen causes an allergic reaction in many people, and the plant is poisonous to some animals.

  3. Yes, it has been discussed that the double-zero varieties, which contain practically no erucic acid and have a very low content of glucosinolates, can cause intoxications in deer and hares. No problems here though: we have more deer and hares than ever before.
