Dandelions make a splendid display at this time of the year and are a fantastic food source for early insects. Unfortunately, many local authorities see them as a sign that the grass needs mowing. I cannot understand how people can still be unaware of the poor environmental and ecological consequences of their actions. Last week, the contractors responsible for maintaining public spaces in our village even dumped waste soil and garden rubbish from their work into our local Nature Area! And last year they entered the reserve without authorisation and drastically cut back the vegetation in an attempt to tidy it up!!
Ours are blossoming too. 🌼 And our lilies of the valley as well. 🤍 The essence of spring. By the way, we’re expecting 25 °C for the weekend.

So much ignorance is really hard to bear. Very common though. By the way, our dandelions were frequented by a plethora of wild bees today.

I am only just beginning to see a few bees, including a queen bumblebee yesterday.
