Hello, Linda. I really don’t know anything other than that this rock dates to the Silurian period and that the waves have licked away the softer parts of rock making depressions that are defined by the remaining outlines of harder rock. The site is a massively complex one and I have yet to get to grips with an understanding of it. The rock strata exposed on the beach change from one thing to another continuously along the stretch as you walk through time.
