Rocks 18-23 LRJCD – Rocks with holes left by fossils in Portland Roach, a shelly oolitic limestone characterised by the moulds of shells including long pointed gastropods locally known as ‘The Portland Screw’ – Aptyxiella portlandica. On a sea wall called The Cobb at Lyme Regis, on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, 24 April 2010.

  1. I love seeing photos of this location ever since reading Tracy Chevalier’s Remarkable Creatures, though I’m sure I would have enjoyed your photos even if I’d never read the book. (Tracy Chevalier happens to be a graduate of Oberlin College, the college in our town of Oberlin.)
