I picked up a big dead red leaf as I walked one of the back alleys in town. I liked the colours. When I got home, I held the leaf up to the window so the daylight shone through it. I took close-up photographs of the leaf venation patterns that looked like micro-mosaic. Larger patches reminded me of stained glass. I love finding natural abstract art like this. No digital alterations needed.

I’ve done the same thing (without the beautiful photos sadly) and was wondering about a time lapse to record how the colours change as they lose their pigments.

That would be an interesting thing to do – perhaps it would work best while the leaf was still on the tree otherwise it might just dry out and go brown and crispy.
