The Lone Shieling 23

Grande Anse River at Lone Shieling fringed with White Spruce and Sugar Maple

The Lone Shieling 23 – Grande Anse River at Lone Shieling fringed with White Spruce. Although Sugar Maple accounts for 97% of the trees in this protected ancient forest, White Spruce grows in the extra sunlight on the stony river banks. The Sugar Maple prefers the moist, fertile lower ground. Photographed along the Cabot Trail, Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Nova Scotia, Canada.
