The Lone Shieling 25 – Melting snow in the mountains brings floods that wash away the soil and deposit rocks from higher upstream. The exposed river bed in spring reveals stones of many types including igneous and metamorphic rocks from the Cape Breton Highlands to the south, and some a billion years old from the Blair River Inlier.
