I was out in similar conditions on a beach not so long ago, and it was actually difficult to breath when walking into the wind, it was blowing so hard into our faces. Weird sensation.

Usually this happens to me when I am well wrapped up. It is always the camera that is most affected. The very fine grains have got into the zoom mechanism of one camera, I can hear a slight crunch when I focus in on objects. I am glad to have the addition of the small waterproof and shockproof camera – it zooms but all the moving bits are within the casing.

Unfortunately, given they are perfect for photos, beaches can be very harsh for cameras. Salt spray can be a killer too.
