Beautiful images! Some of the rocks seem to show deposition of different materials on a very small scale particularly the rock shown in image “Beach Stone from Garretstown Strand 7”
Thank you. Yes, some of the layers are very thin and intricate and, allowing for compression of the sediments with time, make me wonder whether some layers may even represent the events of a single tide. In Nature it is not unknown for events to be recorded on such a small scale. For example, in oyster and other seashells at a microscopic level, the daily growth rate and isolated storm events can be identified from the record of events in the crystalline structure.
I know what you mean. The stones are not just history but deep time, and provide a connection, almost a spiritual thread, going back to the creation of our world.
