Artificial habitat for encouraging insect biodiversity and conservation

I thought at first that these structures on walls dotted around the Swansea University Campus were art works. However, a closer examination revealed that the open-fronted boxes containing compartments with pine cones, cut bamboo, sticks, and logs, were artificial habitats to encourage insect and bug conservation and biodiversity. Neat idea!
