Havaianas flip flop flotsam coloured yellow with blue straps washed ashore on the sandy beach at Rhossili, Gower, South Wales, UK, 3 June 2011 (1)

Flip flops frequently float away while you’re having fun at the seaside – swimming or surfing in the sea; sunbathing on the sandy seashore. Mostly, they get forgotten. They wash ashore later as flotsam on the strandline but are rarely claimed. They might go out to sea again or get buried in the beach sediments.

However, occasionally, the owner will wonder what happened to their lost beach shoes and look at the Web to see if they turned up somewhere. Yesterday, I know from my WordPress blog admin page, someone was searching for their lost Havaianas flip flop. Well, I found one on Rhossili Beach on the 3rd June this year. So here it is. Is this the shoe you were looking for? Sorry, I didn’t pick it up for you – but if I see it again next time I’m there, I’ll collect it and return it to you. Just let me know.
