Sometimes you turn the camera to capture the big picture …when you suddenly see the hidden things on a much smaller scale. This happened when I had climbed up the steep path and steps at the end of a stormy day on Rhossili beach last weekend. I passed through the gate that leads back to the village and turned for one last look at the high tide waves as they washed the pebbles at the base of Rhossili Down. One last picture needed of the wonderful view. I braced myself against the wind to steady the shot. Tucked away from the worst of the elements, between the rough stones of the wall I was leaning against, was this lovely little cluster of hibernating Common Garden Snails (Helix aspersa Muller) with their beautifully patterned shells.
