Fascinating! I’d be tempted to cut one open and see if there was a tiny cuttlefish inside.

Even, better it would have satisfied curiosity to place at least some of the eggs in a marine aquarium to see if they hatched and then safely release them – which my local marine wildlife trust did on one occasion.
