The beach at Swansea Bay following a storm in early October was surprisingly free of debris – but a few small isolated objects remained stranded where they had been washed ashore or trapped by wet sand and were often surrounded by small rafts of seafoam bubbles.

Thank you, Linda. The objects photographed were among the few isolated items on an otherwise almost desolate wide expanse of beach. Each one, although small, stood out as a particular feature on the empty shore. They still had a few bubbles clinging to them while the rest of the seafoam had been driven further on to form natural abstract patterns across the sand.

Thank you, Claudia. The storm-swept beach was for the most part empty except for these few isolated objects and seafoam. Right at the top of the shore were large items like trees that had been washed up. High winds and rain had efficiently driven all the flotsam and detritus up-shore to the sea wall and left the beach itself surprisingly clean except for a few items like those in the pictures.
