The tide was high when I arrived at Kynance Cove. I wanted to cross from one part of the beach to the other but the waves were really crashing ashore, making masses of white sea-foam, and blocking my way. I stood for ages looking at the short stretch of pebbles that linked the two parts of the shore without the courage or agility to rapidly cross in the brief and unpredictable intervals between waves. Others, younger and fitter than I, made the trip while I waited patiently, and took lots of pebble photographs, before the tide ebbed enough for a safe traverse.
The stones seem so very soft and and smooth. And the picture with the foam is action!

The dynamic seafoam made a sharp contrast to the pebbles which were too large and heavy to move with the wave action.
