Peat at Threecliff Bay 27 – Ancient Holocene peat bed exposed beneath the pebble storm beach in the Pennard Pill valley leading to Threecliff Bay in Gower, South Wales. The edges of the peat bed show a cross-section through the layers of peat and clay. The iron deposits are caused by decomposition of the organic peat.
