Not unidentified at all if you know Rhossili. These posts are part of structures erected in early ww2 to stop German planes and gliders landing on the beach. The locals all laughed at the stupidity of such an exercise and after the first storms the whole lot was at the top of the beach where it was gratefully received by the community to repair fences . Every so often sand movement exposes them as in the photo. They are covered in time more than exposed though.
Always ask a local when mysterious is not so !

Thank you for solving the mystery. It is always a question of finding the right source – of finding the right “local” – to get the answers. The posts were a great mystery to many people and so we are grateful for your input. I was confident that someone would pick up on the article and respond. I wonder whether these structures were built at other locations along Rhossili beach. It seems a bit odd if they were just emplaced right at the south end.
