Tenby Rock Textures 26

Fine irregular grooves and ridges on limestone

Tenby Rock Textures 26 – Darker patches on the surface of eroded limestone are covered in fine grooves and ridges barely visible to the naked eye. These could be caused by acid rain rather like the microrills or miniature rillen karren which occur in karst topography. Photographed in Hunts Bay Oolite of the Carboniferous Period at South Beach in Tenby, South Wales.
