Lyme 3a – Large ammonite fossil in a boulder on Monmouth Beach with a view looking towards Golden Cap at Lyme Regis in Dorset, England

  1. Yes, and not unusual for that beach. The entire boulder measured about 60 cm across and would have been a considerable weight. It would be difficult for someone to pick up the fossil and take it home – but I guess in the end some professional fossil hunter would have removed it.
