Cliffs of Moher Strata 2 – The Cliffs of Moher, seen here in a view looking southwest towards Hag’s Head, are composed of virtually horizontal layers of sandstone, siltstone, and mudstone from an ancient river delta formed during the Carboniferous Namurian period, 320 million years ago.
