  1. Why does the sea leave shoes on cockle beaches? We have one near Edinburgh that collects ancient clogs, modern shoes, dolls shoes.
    Am trying to research this for a project and came across your images..

  2. The short answer, Karen, is that unfortunately I do not know. On Gower beaches the shoes seem either to be lost after a day at the beach, or to have been washed overboard from boats. Why shoes and boots should accumulate on these particular beaches may have a lot to do with their popularity for days out, or their location regarding tides and currents.
